3 votes

I'm sorry to hear you're encountering the error with the Windows Update installation. The error code 0x800705b4 typically indicates a timeout error or that the service is not responding. This issue may be related to network issues, corrupted update components or conflicting third-party software. This is usually fixable by rechecking Internet, resetting update components or clearing cache . But if none of that doesn't work, you can try out some other options below: 1 - Run Windows Update Troubleshooter & built-in repair Open Settings > Systems > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters Click Run next to Windows Update > Follow the prompts If the issue persists, try Fix problems using Windows Update by going to Settings > System > Recovery > Reinstall now 2 - Force-sync Insider updates with Command Prompt (Admin) The error sometimes occurs when the update line gets stuck. You can try running the following prompt: usoclient StartInteractiveScan to see if it works. 3 - Reset the Insider Channel Go to Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program . Click Stop getting preview builds > Restart . Re-enroll > Check for updates again. 4 - Clean the hidden components of Insider builds using PowerShell (Admin) Stop-Service -Name "Windows Update" -Force Remove-Item -Path "$env:windir\SoftwareDistribution\*" -Recurse -Force Remove-Item -Path "$env:windir\System32\catroot2\*" -Recurse -Force Start-Service -Name "Windows Update" 5 - Manually install the pending Insider update or trying In-place upgrade: Find your current build number by pressing Win + R > winver Getting the Windows 11 Installation Assistant Download the next Insider build from UUP Dump Disclaimer: This is a non-Microsoft website.
