If you subtract this from the overall $89.99 cost, it brings the effective live TV cost to around $67 for families already paying for both services. The same tab structure, search functions, and curated home feed carry over. On simultaneous streams, YouTube TV includes three streams in every plan, including the cheaper genre plans. To put the service to the test, Yoshida ran Peppa Pig on the living room TV and Impractical Jokers on her laptop simultaneously and didn’t experience any lag. Multiview also worked flawlessly, letting her watch four live streams on a single screen at once: a news channel, a live ESPN college game, a Fox game, and a prime-time drama, all without touching another device. Hulu + Live TV noticeably doesn’t have a multiview option, which isn’t a dealbreaker, but the convenience of watching multiple live games at the same time is a major perk for big sports fans. Schmoll found Hulu + Live TV's interface organized but more demanding. The home page greets you with a promoted show or movie clip, and content is sorted into rows like "Live Now" and "Newly Added TV." The live guide breaks into specific filters — Sports, News, Kids, Movies — which helps navigation once you're familiar with it. Hulu + Live TV starts at two streams, which is enough for couples or solo viewers, but is a friction point for families. Day-to-day streaming reliability was solid across all of Schmoll's devices — no buffering issues or outages during the testing period.

The DVR is where frustration sets in: clicking a show in the live guide defaults to recording new episodes only, without making that clear upfront. To record all episodes, including reruns, you have to find the program's Details page. There's also no way to confirm what's scheduled to record, so you're trusting the system to follow through. For a service at $89.99 per month, its DVR needs to be more intuitive. Reliability and experience benchmarks Hulu + Live TV vs. YouTube TV channel selection Local channel availability varies by ZIP code on both services. Check each provider's website with your ZIP code before subscribing — what's available in your market can differ significantly from what's listed nationally. Sports channels For average sports fans, Hulu + Live TV is more than sufficient. Hulu + Live TV includes ESPN Select in every plan, and additional ESPN Unlimited content is available in the ESPN app for broader sports access.
