History Of Chase Bank
Chase Bank, officially known as JPMorgan Chase Bank, National Association, has a history that dates back to its establishment in 1824 as the Chemical Bank & Trust Company. Over the years, the institution underwent several name changes and expansions through numerous acquisitions. In 1969, the bank was renamed Chemical Bank, which evolved into Chemical Bank New York Trust Company in 1959, and later Chemical Corn Exchange Bank in 1954. The bank expanded significantly in the 1970s and 1980s, notably acquiring multiple regional banks such as Chemical Bank of Syracuse and Community National Bank and Trust Company of New York. A significant transformation occurred in 1996 when it acquired The Chase Manhattan Bank, leading to the eventual rebranding as The Chase Manhattan Bank. In 2004, Chase merged with Bank One, marking the transition to JPMorgan Chase Bank. Since then, Chase has continued to grow by acquiring various institutions, including Washington Mutual Bank in 2008 and JPMorgan Bank and Trust Company in 2015. Most recently, in May 2019, Chase acquired Chase Bank USA, National Association, further solidifying its presence in the banking sector.
