Hi, I created a SYSTEM IMAGE BACKUP of my Windows 7 PREMIUM VERSION! But I had to format it. Then I installed Windows 7 ULTIMATE VERSION! Now I have really, as I quote, "REALLY IMPORTANT", need to recover some files from that backup (which I am unable to restore: ofcourse). PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO DO THAT. I tried attaching VHD step form formatting partition section but it says: Error: VHD file is unreadable or corrupted!!! PLEASE HELP ASAP! Locked Question. Hello Himanshu, Welcome to Microsoft Community Forum. As per the description, I understand that you created a system image backup on a virtual hard drive (VHD) of your Windows 7 Home premium. Now you have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on your computer and you’re trying to recover some files from the system image from that VHD backup. While trying to recover files from VHD backup, you get error message “VHD file is unreadable or corrupted”. Please refer the following Microsoft articles and see if that solves the problem.
