Speak with the AI Have a natural conversation about the video you watched. Answer questions, explain your thoughts and share your own opinions on the topics it covers. See your mistakes, say it better At the end of the conversation, review the mistakes you made, the corrected sentences and the more natural sample answers you could have given. Then repeat those samples out loud to lock in the right usage. Listen and repeat Listen to the sentences in the video first, then repeat them out loud. Let the AI catch the words you skipped or said wrong and rate your pronunciation, fluency and rhythm. See your mistakes, the corrections and sample answers in one place. How do you learn English? The same way we learn everything else: first enough input (listening / reading), then production (writing), and finally automaticity, which is speaking. For a skill to become automatic, it has to move from the processing centre of your brain to the centre that runs automatic behaviour such as playing the piano or riding a bike, and that only happens through repetition. You have to meet the same things over and over, and do the same things over and over. 1 . Prepare your mind for English Learning does not stop the moment you close your books. Your brain keeps processing the words and sentence patterns you heard during the day while you walk, take a shower, rest and sleep. But if your mind is constantly busy with work problems, plans and worries, those are what run in the background, not English. Your brain works on whatever you treat as a priority, so you have to move English closer to the centre of your life. 2 . Meet real English every day Grammar is not input. Input means reading, listening to and watching real English. Watch a video, read a story or listen to a podcast that you understand about 80 percent of. Choose content you love, because you will not learn a language from content that bores you. Pick things you enjoy so much that you forget you are studying. Instead of five hours in one day and then a two or three day break, study one hour every day. Our advice is two hours of English a day. 3 . Choose content with a story, not disconnected facts The brain works through connections. Isolated flashcards, fifteen-second clips with bite-sized facts and word-of-the-day posts catch your attention and entertain you, but they never connect what you learn. Words stay with you when they come back inside a story, a conversation or a topic. So choose content with context and a continuation instead of random short clips. That is also why Tombik was not built as a flashcard-swiping dopamine app, but around real content. 4 . Consume first (listening / reading), then produce (writing / speaking) Before you can speak and write, you need to have seen and heard enough English. Reading, listening and watching give your mind the words and sentence patterns you will use later. Staying quiet at the beginning is normal, so do not worry about it. Speaking and writing are the natural result of listening and reading. Read, listen and watch intensively. 5 . Speaking is a reflex If you say “I understand but I cannot speak”, it means you have not done enough listening and reading yet, so fix that first. Besides, you cannot learn to swim by watching swimming, and you cannot learn to ride a bike by reading about it. You cannot build speaking by watching videos alone either. The first step of speaking is imitation, and that step is called reading out loud: repeating sentences aloud, again and again. Tombik gives you the video subtitles as a download, so read them out loud. 6 . The first step of speaking: read out loud, speak out loud Read out loud. Repeat the sentences aloud many times and imitate the speaker's rhythm and stress. Write as well, because you have to learn to produce before you can speak, and writing is the best way to do that. Speaking is writing, sped up and made automatic. After that, talk to the AI, and in Tombik that is not a random conversation but one about the topics in the video you watched. Finally, talk to real native speakers. 7 . Repetition matters more than the best method Even with the best method in the world, nothing becomes automatic without enough repetition, and even with the worst method in the world, enough repetition makes it automatic and you learn the language. Watching a video once is consuming content; coming back to the same video is learning. The first time you follow the topic, the second time you notice the words, and in later rounds you notice sentence patterns, pronunciation and stress. You can study one video for a week and watch it ten times. Do not keep jumping to new content: choose a little, study it deeply and repeat it.
