Electronic Arts (EA) has made major announcements regarding its upcoming blockbuster titles, including the October 10, 2025, release date for Battlefield 6 , new details on The Sims multiplayer expansion, and updates on its licensed Star Wars and Marvel games.
In an exclusive interview with Variety , Laura Miele, President of EA Entertainment , discussed the company’s strategic decisions, transmedia ambitions, and how EA is balancing its original IP with high-profile licensed games.
1. ‘Battlefield 6’ Release Date: Why EA Stuck With October 10
EA’s decision to release Battlefield 6 on October 10 initially raised eyebrows, as Rockstar Games had previously slotted Grand Theft Auto 6 for the same window before delaying it to May 2026 . However, Miele emphasized that EA remained "unblinking" in its commitment to the date.
"We have always been heads down, unblinking about this fall and executing at a level of excellence," Miele said. "We would not have put Battlefield in harm’s way or in the blast radius of something really large. But we were confident in our timeline and the strength of the franchise."
Strategic Confidence: EA conducted internal scenario planning but ultimately trusted its development cycle.

2. ‘The Sims’ Multiplayer & Ecosystem Expansion
While The Sims 5 has been a hotly requested sequel, EA is taking a different approach— evolving The Sims 4 into a broader multiplayer ecosystem rather than a traditional numbered sequel.
"What I wouldn’t want is for players to start from scratch, losing all their content and purchases," Miele explained. "We’ve released over 85 content packs for The Sims 4 in the last decade. Resetting that wouldn’t be player-friendly."
What’s Coming to The Sims :
✅ Multiplayer Mode: A major new social experience, currently in "feverish development." ✅ Mobile & Cozy Game Spin-offs: Following the success of The Sims Mobile and Asian-market cozy games. ✅ Core Game Upgrades: Technical improvements to modernize the base game.
3. ‘The Sims’ Movie & Transmedia Ambitions
EA is collaborating with Amazon MGM Studios and Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap on a Sims movie, a project Miele says has been in discussion for "years and years."
"We’re now at a moment where we can co-create content in film and games simultaneously," Miele said. "The opportunities for cross-media storytelling are huge."
Potential Tie-Ins:
In-game movie-themed content (e.g., outfits, locations).

4. ‘Apex Legends’ TV/Film Potential
When asked about Apex Legends adaptations, Miele hinted at untapped backstories for the game’s characters.
"There’s rich history with these Legends that could come to life in linear media," she said. "We’re motivated to do it in a way that respects the brand."

5. Licensed Games: ‘Star Wars Jedi 3,’ ‘Iron Man,’ and More
After the cancellation of EA’s Black Panther game, questions arose about the company’s commitment to licensed titles. Miele reassured that EA remains deeply invested in Disney and Marvel collaborations.
